Problem: Bacteria On Evaporator Pad Causes Odor

A paper or clay humidifier pad is an ideal environment for bacteria growth due to being constantly wet and having a high surface area. This bacteria growth can produce unpleasant odors in the humidified air from the humidifier.

Solution: Humidifier Pads Treated With Agion® Antimicrobial

Agion® can be applied to the pads during manufacturing to inhibit the growth of bacteria on the pad, reducing odor.



Problem: Biofilm Formation Reduces Evaporation

Humidifier pads work by passing air over the high surface area of a wet pad. A paper pad draws water up through capillary action (“wicking”), which is inhibited by the biofilm growing on the submerged portion of the pad. A clay pad wicks water delivered at the top of the pad throughout the structure to maximize the exposed surface area. A biofilm effectively reduces the service area and wicking. Both of these effects reduce the overall evaporation rate from the pad.

When applied to the pads, Agion® reduces biofilm formation on the pad to maintain high efficiently in evaporation and longer pad life.
