Problem: Biofouling of Prefilters
In some water storage systems a prefilter is used to remove sediment and debris from the water before it enters the reservoir. Over time, bacteria can grow on the filters, increasing pressure drop and reducing flow.
Solution: Treating the Prefilter with Agion® Antimicrobial
Agion® inhibits the growth of bacteria on the filter media within the prefilter. This reduces the impact on the pressure drop and flow restriction. Agion® can easily be incorporated into the polymer used to make a pleated or melt blown filter during manufacturing.
Problem: Carbon Filters Amplify Bacteria Concentrations
Carbon filters trap organics and remove chlorine, creating ideal conditions for bacteria growth. In just a few weeks after a new filter is installed, effluent from the carbon filter can contain more bacteria than the water entering the filter if it is not treated properly.
Solution: Treat The Carbon Filter with Agion® Antimicrobial
Agion® can be incorporated into the carbon filter media during manufacturing of the filter, which will inhibit the growth of bacteria on the filter, and reduce the amplification of bacteria in the effluent. This specific functionality is proven by the NSF 42 bacteriostatic certification achieved by many filters using Agion®
