Ecological Fibers Offers Sciessent’s Agion® Antimicrobial in its
Environmentally Responsible Paper Coating Products

Beverly, MA — (September 15, 2020) – Sciessent today announced that Ecological Fibers, an environmentally responsible paper coating company, is currently offering Sciessent’s Agion® antimicrobial as an upgrade option to its high-quality, sustainable, coated paper lines.

Since its inception in 1972, Ecological Fibers has been dedicated to the environmentally-sound manufacturing of covering materials and design solutions, including materials for the book, stationery, packaging and security document industries. The company does not incorporate any hazardous solvents or heavy metals historically found in coated coverings. It refrains from using harsh chemicals in the production of any of its materials and instead employs coatings that are 100 percent water based and solvent free.

Leveraging copper and silver antimicrobial technology, Agion is designed to automatically release its antimicrobial components only when conditions for bacteria growth are present. This capability results in the longest lasting protection against microbes. Agion is registered with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and meets the strict ecological and toxicological requirements of the bluesign criteria.

“This partnership brings together two companies strongly committed to the safety of people and the environment,” said Paul C. Ford, CEO of Sciessent. “We are proud to be featured in Ecological Fibers’ product line, offering its customers a safe, effective and reliable solution for antimicrobial protection.”
