Beverly, MA — (September 29, 2020) – Sciessent today announced that the Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals (ZDHC) Foundation, a global multi-stakeholder initiative of more than 160 contributors within the fashion and footwear industry, has listed all of Sciessent’s products – Agion®, ActiveXL, Lava®, Lava XL® and Curb® – to its ZDHC Gateway. It is the world’s first database of safer chemistry to assist brands, suppliers and chemical producers in making better sourcing decisions.
ZDHC’s mission is to enable brands and retailers to implement sustainable chemical management best practice across the value chain. Through collaborative engagement, standard setting and implementation, the organization advances towards zero discharge of hazardous chemicals. In July 2020, Sciessent announced that it had achieved the highest level of ZDHC conformance criteria – Level 3 – as its products do not contain substances that are listed on the ZDHC Manufacturing Restricted Substances List (MRSL).
“Manufacturers across many industries rely on our safe and effective ingredients to provide advanced product performance in a sustainable way,” said Paul C. Ford, CEO of Sciessent. “Our inclusion in the ZDHC Gateway opens the door for additional opportunities in the textile, apparel and footwear industries and confirms our commitment to safe manufacturing practices.”
