How it Works

The Antimicrobial solutions we offer are considered “smart” technologies, which incorporate silver and copper elements in a zeolite carrier. When active, ions exchange with other positive ions (often sodium) from the moisture in the environment. This initiates a release of antimicrobial elements in an efficient manner.

Agion Antimicrobial uses a trimodal approach to fight microbe growth:

  • Agion’s antimicrobial technology prevents respiration by inhibiting transport functions in the cell wall
  • It inhibits cell division (reproduction)
  • It disrupts cell metabolism

What This Means

A product treated with Agion Antimicrobial technology released the active antimicrobial ingredient only when moisture is detected and conditions are ideal for bacteria growth. This functionality allows for efficient use of the technology, equating to long-lasting performance.
